Double Smoked Steakhouse Beans

Ingredients

  • 8 oz - Sirloin steak, sliced into 1/4 thick stripes
  • 6 Slices of thick bacon
  • ¼ cup - Onions, diced
  • 1 ⅓ cup - Pinto beans
  • 1 ⅓ cup - Red kidney beans
  • 1 ⅓ cup - Black beans
  • 2 tbsp - Kentucky straight bourbon
  • ¼ cup - Brown sugar
  • ½ cup - Ketchup
  • ¼ cup - Molasses
  • 1 ½ tbsp - Dijon mustard
  • 3 tbsp - Steak sauce
  • ¼ cup - Apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp - Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp - Onion powder
  • ½ tbsp - Steak seasoning
  • ¼ cup - Dark beer
  • ½ tsp - Liquid smoke

You will also need

Hickory wood chunks

Preparation

  1. Preheat your smoker at 250°F;
  2. Slice the bacon into stripes of about a ¼ inch thick and place into a preheated cast iron skillet over high heat; cook until the bacon is almost done then add the onions and the sliced sirloin steak for a couple more minutes; turn off the heat then add all the remaining ingredients into the skillet and give a good mix;
  3. Place the skillet inside the smoker and cook for about 1h30 to 2h00 using hickory, oak or apple wood chunks.

Suggestion: Serve with tortilla chips or roasted Texas toast
