Coffee Rubbed Burgers

Ingredients

Burgers

  • 2 lb - Ground beef
  • 4 Slices of smoked Gouda
  • 4 Eggs
  • 12 Slices of hardwood smoked bacon
  • 4 Burger buns
  • Tomatoes, onions, lettuce, mayo and/or your favorite condiments

Coffee Rub

  • 1 ½ tbsp - Ground coffee
  • 1 tbsp - Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp - Chili powder
  • 2 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp - Onion powder
  • ½ tsp - Black pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat your grill for a two zone cooking, having hot coals on one side and nothing on the other;
  2. Place the bacon slices for indirect heat and cook for 15 minutes or until desired doneness;
  3. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal sized patties;
  4. Combine all Coffee Rub ingredients into a bowl then generously rub on both side of each beef patty;
  5. Place the burgers on your grill over direct heat and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness; Move the burgers to indirect heat and add a slice of Gouda cheese on top of each;
  6. Fry the eggs in a preheated and oiled cast iron skillet;
  7. Place a grilled beef patty between two burger buns with two slices of bacon, one fried egg and your favorite choice of condiments; Enjoy.
