Crispy Smoked & Spicy Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 20 to 30 Chicken Wings
  • 2 tbsp - Canola oil
  • Woods chunks for smoking, preferably apple and hickory

BBQ Rub

  • 2 tsp - Cayenne
  • 2 tsp - Onion powder
  • 1 tbsp - Brown sugar
  • 1 tsp - Paprika
  • 2 tsp - Salt
  • 1 tsp - Ground black pepper

Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce

  • 16 oz - Ketchup
  • ½ cup - Brown sugar
  • ½ cup - Apple Cider Vinegar
  • ¼ cup - Apple juice
  • ¼ cup - Honey
  • ½ tbsp - Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp - Salt
  • ½ tsp - Ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp - Ground celery seeds
  • ½ tbsp - Red pepper flakes
  • 1 ½ tbsp - Jalapeño hot sauce

Preparation

  1. Preheat your grill for indirect at 400°F;
  2. Brush the wings with canola oil, then sprinkle over all of the BBQ Rub ingredients to give them an even coating;
  3. Place the wings on the grill for indirect, toss a few wood chunks over hot coals for smoking and close the lid; Cook 35 to 45 minutes at 400°F;
  4. While the wings are cooking, mix all Sweet & Spicy Ingredients in a saucepan and simmer for 10 minutes;
  5. Brush the wings with barbecue sauce and cook for another 5 minutes;
  6. Remove from the grill and serve with the remaining BBQ Sauce.
