Ingredients

Burgers

  • 6 BUBBA USDA Angus beef burgers
  • 6 Slices of American cheese
  • 6 to 12 Bacon strips
  • Thin slices of ripe tomatoes
  • Thin slices of red onions
  • Boston lettuce leaves
  • 6 Burger buns

Habanero Barbecue Sauce

  • ¼ cup - Butter
  • ½ cup - Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp - El Yucateco Black Label
  • 1 cup - Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp - Hot mustard
  • ¼ cup - White vinegar
  • 2 tsp - Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp - Onion powder
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • ½ tsp - Black pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat your grill for a two zone cooking – distribute hot coals over half of the grilling area and leave the other empty;
  2. Place the bacon strips opposed to hot coals for indirect cooking and close the lid; Cook for aout 30 minutes at 300°F;
  3. Make the sauce: combine all Habanero Barbecue Sauce ingredients in a skillet and bring to a simmer for 5 minutes;
  4. Remove the fully cooked bacon from your grill and place the burger patties over direct heat; Grill 4 to 6 minutes per side;
  5. Once the burgers are done, brush them with the habanero barbecue sauce on both side and place a slice on American cheese on top; Grill for another 15 to 30 seconds for the sauce to caramelize and the cheese to start melting;
  6. Assemble your burgers in lightly grilled burger buns with some more habanero barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a grilled burger patty; Enjoy.
